DIY Shampoo, Bodywash, Shaving Cream All-In-One!

Ingredients & materials:
  • Container - find a empty container preferably with a pump. If you don't have one you can always look on sunburstbottle.com (BPA free bottles) and buy one but they are somewhat pricey if you are not buying in bulk.
  • Castile soap [liquid] - Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild is a good one I like to use
  • Coconut milk - try to get organic and BPA free. Native Forest is one brand that I know is both organic, non-GMO, and BPA-free.
  • Vitamin E oil - try to get the d-alpha tocopherol as this is nature derived. Most other ones are synthetic and work half as well. I use the Now solutions brand and it works great!
  • Honey - Raw, organic, and unfiltered
  • Essential oils - your favorite smells. I like to use peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs.

Mix two parts coconut milk to one part castile soap. Put a few drops of vitamin E oil and essential oils. You can put a teaspoon of honey and then mix well.

Here is the end product. How legit does that look? It smells and feels wonderful to use in the shower. I literally spent a few dollars just making everything since all the items are versatile and used everyday. It's just a wonderful feeling doing the right thing of going green (recycling old bottles instead of throwing it away), using all natural ingredients, feeling empowered when I create my own products instead of depending on chemical-filled products from the drugstore.

100% Pure Powder & Tinted Moisturizer Review

So it's been three days since my last post and that's pretty late for me since I try to do it everyday. It's been a rough week because of work and school but I didn't forget about my sweeties here on Bonbon Naturale. I ordered a few things online this past week which I shouldn't have but I just had to because I'm obsessed with 100% Pure cosmetics // Click for a detailed review of 100% Pure  //  I bought their fruit pigmented powder and tinted moisturizer. I've tried it on for about a couple days to get a feel for it. I'm pretty impressed with the quality.

Healthy Flawless Skin Foundation Powder   //   0.316oz   //   $26.00
Peach Bisque   //   Medium Coverage

 The packaging is just absolutely endearing! It's a silver colored shiny container. The inside of the lid is a mirror. How convenient and thoughtful is that?
Super lightweight face powder to give you a beautiful, flawless, poreless complexion. Use alone or over our tinted moisturizer. All natural formula packed full of anti-aging vitaminsantioxidants and skin purifying eucalyptus, soothing calendulachamomile and roseoil absorbing rice powder and flattering color from fruits and vegetables. Does not contain talc, chemical preservatives, fragrances or any other toxins -100%pure.com

 Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer    //    1.7oz    //    $32.00

  Sheer Coverage   //  Peach Bisque

Tinted with natural fruit and vegetable pigments to give your complexion a flawless appearance while feeding your skin with nourishing white tea, acai oil, pomegranate oil and vitamins.Antioxidants protect your skin from other environmental hazards such as pollution, smog, smoke, exhaust, etc. -100%Pure.com

I'm a light-medium skin color with a warm [golden] undertone. The peach bisque was a good color for me. I had to kind of guess on the website as there weren't any samples or color patches on it. Although, that wouldn't have helped probably. To my surprise the color actually matched my skin. The color was blend-able.  The great feature about the moisturizer is the pump which measures about just about the amount displayed below on my hand. I recommend one pump which is a lot and apply first on my nose and spread to the rest of the areas on my face.

Here is a short video on my blending the product on my hand. The quality of the video is not all that great but it shows you how the color matches your skin. You do have to blend, blend, BLEND to get the desired flawless look. Keep in mind it's a sheer coverage so it's only a small bit of color. If you're looking for something with fuller coverage then go with the liquid foundation. Personally, I wanted a moisturizer with a little bit of color so this was just perfect. If I wanted extra coverage I got the powder  for those special occasions. You can get a medium to full coverage by topping the moisturizer off with the powder.

Here is what I look like with the tinted moisturizer and powder on. Just a tad of my homemade eyeliner, 100% Pure eyeliner, blush, and lipstick. TADA! All natural look. I don't like my makeup too heavy. Would I recommend this to a friend? Of course I would! The packaging is lovely and the makeup is ethical and non-toxic. Who can complain? The quality is superb. I love the light texture of the powder and the moisturizer.

Texture: Smooth and light. Feels like nothing on my face.
Packaging: Shiny and adorable. Very girly which is a BIG + for me. All materials are recyclable.
Lasting power: Lasts all day but if you live in a hotter humid area like I do you might have to top off every so often finishing powder to keep it matte. Otherwise it is great!
Color: When I put it on the color blended so well that it was flawless and it didn't look like I had makeup on.

~~~
They have a special going on this week and lucky me I missed this since I bought mine just before this came out. :( But my Bonbon beauties I'm sharing the love and here is a special which is super duper cheap for all four items. You get a luminous primer, tinted moisturizer, powder, and cruelty-free kabuki brush all for: $68  //  $105 VALUE
You also get free shipping for anything over fifty dollars. I also recommend looking for a 10% off coupon somewhere online. You'll save quite A LOT
Organic Brand Juice Beauty Under $39
Have you heard of
?
Did you know your skin absorbs up to 64% of what you place on it? Started by wellness entrepreneur Karen Behnke in California, USA, she found that there are few products that work well and that contained too few of quality ingredients. The unique thing about Juice Beauty is that they contain up to 98% organic ingredients in their products which a lot of natural and organic products do not deliver. A lot of brands state they are organic but are mainly 95% water base and the other 5% is organic which will fall in the organic category. This is not good for the consumer as it is just filler and we're spending more on diluted products.
Juice Beauty is a brand that is free of pesticides, parabens, propylene or butylene glycols, petroleum, sulfates, phthalates, silicones, artificial dyes or fragrances. They are eco-friendly as they use only recycled material with soy inks that can be recycled again. They manufacture most of their products through solar power. They are cruelty-free as they do no animal testing and they buy their organic ingredients locally in California.
They have all sorts of products on their website from cosmetics to hair care. Here are some products I have picked from their website. You have to love the fact that all their products are full of organic natural juices with anti-oxidants, vitamins, and minerals!
Organic facial wash   //    All skin types    //   4oz    //    $22.00
SPF 30 Tinted Mineral Moisturizer    //    2oz    //    $29.00
Correcting Concealer    //    $18.00    //     2 colors ivory or sand
Green Apple Peel Sensitive    //    2oz    //    $39
Illuminating Eye Color    //    0.05oz    //    $12.00
Champagne    //    Cappuccino    //    Chocolate
Organic Lip Moisturizer    //    0.05oz    //    $15.00
Purely Kissable Lip Color by Alicia Silverstone  //    0.12oz    //     $16.00
Age Defy Solutions Kit  //    $39.00  60.00 value
Contains: Green Apple Cleansing Gel, Green Apple Peel Full Strength, Green Apple Age Defy Serum, Green Apple SPF 15 Moisturizer, Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer
Organics to Clear Skin Kit   //    $39.00   $55.00 value
Contains:   Blemish Clearing Cleanser, Green Apple Blemish Clearing Peel, Blemish Clearing Serum, Oil Free Moisturizer
They also have hair mind you
Brightening Shampoo   //    10oz    //     $10
And lastly one more thing for the hot summer days
SPF 30 Oil - Free Moisturizer    //    2oz    //    $29.00
What I liked about this brand when going through the website is that the wide variety of products. They literally have everything for all skin types. You name it! Don't take my word for it, check out the website yourself. You'll be amazed on the number of high quality organic and natural ingredients in each make up. I dare ya to look at the ingredients, you might be surprised. They give you free samples for every order how lovely is that? Another PLUS: this brand is affordable compared to some other brands out there. It is a REAL bargain if you ask me. I'm so ready to dive into these babies. I can't wait to do future reviews on products I try it out for all of you. Stay tuned~ =)
100% Pure Pink Box Review
So I bought this pink box set from a company called 100% Pure a couple months ago and at first glance I fell in love with the adorable packaging. These were the first products I purchased from this brand and I have to say I love the quality. 100% Pure products are free of toxins, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and chemical preservatives. They are vegan and vegetarian friendly. I'm wearing most of the products on my face in this photo. My eyeliner is a homemade recipe of charcoal and aloe gel.
I got the set originally because I wanted to sample some of their products without having to spend too much money. I love all the colors which surprisingly complements my skin color. I'm not wearing any powder here but I'm excited because I just purchase their pigmented moisturizer and powder which should come in about a week or so. I'll do a review on that in a future post for you guys. =)
Pink box set   //   All packaging is made of recycled materials and inks are non-toxic soy inks. //
This is my photo of my set. Inside of the pink box contains two cruelty free brushes which are made of synthetic hairs and not of animal hairs. One is for eyes and one is for cheeks. There are two eye shadows: sateen and cashmere. The blush is in chiffon which is like a bright pink. There is a lipstick, mascara, and eye-stick duo. Everything smells fruity delicious as they contain fruit and vegetable pigments. The great thing is that these contain antioxidants so it's good for your face as well!
All Natural Homemade Salsa in 5 minutes!
I made my very own salsa at home today really easy and it's so much better than the store salsa. I got  organic tomatoes, cilantro, onion, jalapeno, lime, and don't forget tortilla chips. Wash and clean all vegetables. I used 3 tomatoes, a few small slices of onion, a teaspoon of chopped cilantro, a teaspoon of lime, and a half of a jalapeno. I put them all into a blender. It's probably better in a food processer.
It's as easy as that! :)
Voila! All natural salsa with organic blue corn chips with no salt.
Dairy Free Coconut Milk Ice Cream
Have you heard of
?
I've seen the brand before but I knew little about it. I don't eat ice cream often but now that it's summer time and I have a sweet tooth I picked up one of these babies. I totally caved in when I saw it was dairy free. So Delicious brand is dairy-free for those who are lactose intolerant like I am! I was slightly skeptical as trying most new brands but I fell in love right away at first bite. It is super light and it's not exactly like typical dairy ice cream. The texture kind of reminds me of a frozen version of chocolate mousse. It was so DELICIOUS. I couldn't believe the taste was perfect.
Ingredients are as follows: organic coconut milk (water, organic coconut cream), organic agave syrup, chicory root extract, cocoa (pressed with alkali), carob bean gum, guar gum, natural flavor.
This ice cream is made with organic and non-GMO coconuts. The ice cream is a bit pricey. I bought mine for about 5 or 6 dollars for a pint but it was totally worth every penny. They have desserts on their website made with coconut milk and almond milk. They have milk, ice creams, creamers, and cultured milks.
What I like about this company is that their packaging is BPA-free. They use high quality sanitation  and make sure all their products are allergen tested.
The company was started in 1990 as a one man operation by it's founder Mark Brawerman. His vision was to provide the public with the highest quality dairy free products to those who have specific needs like me and so many others.
This is officially my favorite ice cream. I can't wait to try all their flavors!
Next dessert I want to try:
DROOOOOOLS!
What are your favorite ice creams or desserts (brands?)
Coconut Milk Shampoo, Bodywash, Shaving Cream All-in-one!
Creamy Mint Coconut Shampoo sounds like a dessert haha. Please don't eat this guys, I know it's tempting. So I wanted to do an updated version of my original post of coconut milk shampoo which is one of my most popular posts, "Nourishing Coconut Shampoo Recipe."
As I would use homemade shampoos more and more, I found myself to make adjustments and make slight improvements and I found a formula now that I absolutely love! I can't tell you how much I love it. I use so much of this stuff. I've been making my own shampoo and using it for six months and I don't ever want to go back to buying commercial shampoo. My hair used to be seriously frizzy, brittle, and damaged when I used brands like Pantene, Dove, Suave, Treseme, etc... My hair now is healthier, stronger, and softer. The great thing about this recipe is that you can use it as a face wash, body wash, and shampoo all-in-one!
M A T E R I A L S : bowl for mixing   //   spoon   //   funnel   //   recycled bottle   {   I got mine at Natural Grocers or click here for Sunburstbottle for all kinds of glass and plastic bottles  or it might be cheaper on amazon   }   //   dropper for the essential oils
TIP: I personally like to get a bottle with a pump or one with a lid that has a small spout like the one below which is the one I'm currently using. Other bottles are fine but from experience I tend to lose a lot of product by accidentally pouring too much.
I N G R E D I E N T S :
Native Forest brand of organic coconut milk
One of the best brands for coconut milk as it is non-GMO, USDA organic, and BPA free. This is really important just because most cans are lined with BPA. It is a little more pricey than most coconut milk brands but it's definitely worth the cost. I believe it's about 3 US dollars a can.
//   Dr Bronner's brand of  organic liquid castile soap   //   Now Solutions brand of vitamin E oil   //
Mountain Rose Herbs organic essential oils such as peppermint, lavender, and tea tree oil
Why I picked this combination is that I got a really mixture of cleansing, healing, and refreshing all in one. The peppermint gives you a tingling feeling as you shower and it really wakes you up in the morning. The tea tree oil is cleansing as it is highly anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. The lavender is calming and soothing and it smells wonderful.
//   optional raw honey
**The brands I list are just recommendations that I love and use and I did link the brands to the website you can purchase from. You can use whatever brands you prefer.
**I got a lot of these items from Natural Grocers, amazon, Mountain Rose Herbs
D I R E C T I O N S:
Pour 1 part of coconut milk (examples you can use one-half cup or one cup depending how much you want to make) and 1 part of liquid castile soap into the bowl. With your dropper pick up about 3 drops of peppermint, 2 drops of lavender, and 2 drops of tea tree for every ounce of product you make. You can always eyeball it and put a few drops into the mixture and try it out. If you need more than you can always add more. Don't put too much at once because you can't undo that (well you sorta can lol) and it would be too strong.  Just in case you do mess up, make sure to put more coconut milk to dilute it.
Add 5 drops of vitamin E oil for every ounce and a half teaspoon of honey (optional).
Mix everything completely with a spoon. Put your funnel on top of your bottle and make sure it doesn't tip over. Call a friend if you need to. Pour all the contents into the funnel. Get every last bit and tadaaaa! Your very own "creamy mint coconut shampoo!"
I use this as my facial cleasner, body wash, shampoo, and shaving cream. Talk about saving money! =)
100% Pure Cosmetics Free Of Toxins & Carcinogens
Have you heard of
?
100% Pure is an American ethical and health conscious cosmetics line that is 100% pure, environmentally friendly, and cruelty-free line founded by Ric Kostick, his wife Susan Wang, and her brother James Wang. The business started in 2005 in California that continues to be successful and grow all over the world. Their journey began with Susan Wang who used to work as a formulator and found out terrifying things on how carcinogenic and toxic elements were in everyday cosmetics.
Mint white tea skin care set    //    normal to oily    //    $35
100% Pure uses fruit and vegetable pigments for their makeup instead of synthetics dyes and food colorings (which are known to cause severe allergic reactions and possible anaphylactic shock. I will write a future blog about certain ones that I know exist in certain natural and organic cosmetics).
All ingredients are listed on their official site so there is no need to fear with 100% Pure. As you can see from the photo above they contain items that you know about. NO chemicals that you can not read! How wonderful is that. They only use food grade ingredients and don't use emulsifiers or fillers because that would dilute the product. You get pure products that are sensitive for every skin type.
I actually use some of their products and I think it's AMAZING. Here is my photo of my 100% Pure collection which is still growing of course. This is the pink box set from their gift set collection which runs for about 65 US dollars for two eyeshadows, blush, two brushes(no animal hairs whatsoever, all synthetic hairs), eye stick duo, lipstick, and mascara. The bunny bowl not included. ;)
 They are more affordable than most natural brand of it's kind. I have read reviews on some thought it was too expensive for the quality. I believe the product is of high quality and the price matches it just because you are getting ethical and healthier cosmetics that's not going to cause cancers and diseases. If you want cheaper cosmetics then you pretty much get what you pay for. They don't use any nano particles (like the titanium and zinc oxides) which can be extremely harmful as it can be directly absorbed into the skin. There are products that are also gluten-free which I didn't know you can go that way with makeup brands. The vitamin E that they get is derived from rice bran which I thought was so considerate of them.
NOTE:
They have mostly vegan makeup but sometimes vegetarian when they use cruelty-free honey.
All packaging is made from recycled material.
They have all kinds of products for all skin types. They have hundreds of items and it can take forever looking over all of them but it's worth the look because everything is in an adorable packaging. I've also noted that the smells are just amazing and not the fake perfum-y smell that gives you headaches. I am super sensitive to fragrances and so I only use fragrance free products unless it's natural fruits or essential oils. Natural smells are completely fine for me.
On sale!! Chocolate line for 88 US dollars - $110 Retail
Photo from 100% Pure
PERK:
They always come out with new items and always have sales which I'm sure we all love right?
Ingredients: Rice Powder, May contain all or some of the following powdered pigments: Cacao, Apricot, Peach, Vanilla, Coffee, Papaya and Tomato, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Lavender Flower Powder, Organic Rosehip Oil*, Avocado Butter, Coco Butter, Vitamin A (a-palmitate), Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
* certified organic by Baystate Organic Certifiers - 100percentpure.com
The only downside with the company (  there is lots to love  ) is that I think they use too few organic ingredients. I'm not saying they don't have any because they have a few. I hope sometime in the future that majority of their ingredients would be though! In the meantime, they have so many positive aspects that I would say that 100% Pure is one of the best brands out there for all natural and healthier cosmetics. 100% Pure is definitely a worthwhile and meaningful company to promote and support. They're having sales that are ending on four days from today. They are giving out a 6 piece set for any $35  purchase. This is such a great deal as you won't come by this very often with them. It's normally 80!
